I Hope You Are All Safe in These Troubling Times
This is certainly a unique time. We are all experiencing shortages, from vital necessities like food and bathroom supplies to our own calm. As the Beatles sang, "All you need is love." While it may sound trite or commonplace, that phrase carries more weight than gold.
First, we must love ourselves. This will give us the strength to keep calm and carry on in times of stress and anxiety. As the flight attendant states during a pre-flight briefing, "Place the oxygen mask over your face and nose first before you help someone else with theirs." We can't help others if we haven't helped ourselves first. So if we love ourselves first, then we can in turn love others.
Secondly love others as you would yourself. As Jesus said, "Love your neighbor as yourself." Since we are all ultimately connected in spirit, all our actions for others are actions for ourselves. Be loving and kind to others in this time of crisis. Help those who need a helping hand whether that's getting groceries for others or coordinating things with them. Extend a loving helping hand and it will come back to you a thousandfold.
Given the social distancing we are all now practicing to stay safe, everything has gone online, including businesses and even schools. I've also gone fully online until further notice. The good news is I now have much more available time to conduct readings!
Please stay safe and healthy.
