I
Have you ever wondered if the quiet voice that nudges you at just the right moment is more than your imagination? What if that voice — the one you keep dismissing as random — is actually your spirit guide trying to help you, and you’ve been ignoring it for years?
That was exactly where my journey began.
Before becoming a spiritual medium and author, I was a financial analyst on Wall Street — a data-driven, logic-based career where intuition didn’t exactly make the spreadsheet. My days were filled with numbers, forecasts, and deadlines. I had no connection to spirit, no sense of higher purpose… and honestly, no peace.
But stress has a way of cracking even the thickest walls.
The Moment Everything Changed
At the time, I was anxious, overworked, and taking my stress out on the people I loved. A friend suggested meditation to help me relax. Skeptical but desperate, I found a simple guided meditation — no incense, no mantras, just a calm voice and music.
At first, I noticed small shifts: I slept better, I was more patient, I felt lighter.
Then, about a year into my daily practice, everything changed.
I had a profound spiritual awakening — one that shattered my logical worldview and opened a direct line to something greater. It was as if spirit had been waiting behind a thick wall of logic, and meditation had finally cracked it open.
That was the beginning of my journey from spreadsheets to spirit guides.
And in this episode of Spirits Beside Us, I share three powerful truths that can help you begin your own connection with spirit — even if you’ve doubted your intuition for years.
1. How to Tell the Difference Between Imagination and Spirit
One of the biggest questions people ask is: “How do I know if it’s my imagination or my guide?”
Here’s the key: trace the source of the thought.
If the idea follows a logical chain of thinking — A to B to C — it’s likely your mind. But if the thought drops in out of nowhere — like A to B to Q — that’s often your guide.
Spirit messages feel like sudden clarity, not mental noise. They’re subtle, calm, and infused with love — never fear or urgency.
Ask yourself:
-
Did this thought come from nowhere?
-
Does it feel gentle, loving, or supportive?
-
Did it leave me feeling more guided or at peace?
If so, trust it.
Your imagination tries to create. Spirit tries to communicate.
2. How to Hear Your Guides More Clearly
Most people think connecting with their guides means trying harder — but it’s the opposite. It’s about getting quieter.
Our ego minds are loud. They narrate, judge, and analyze constantly. I call mine Frankie Brain. Once you name it, you can spot it — and learn to quiet it.
Spirit doesn’t shout. Spirit speaks in silence.
Here’s a simple practice you can try:
-
Sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths.
-
Place your hands on your heart.
-
Say silently or aloud:
“Spirit guides of the highest love and light, I invite you to step into my energy and let me know you’re with me.” -
Then simply allow. Don’t try. Don’t expect. Just be.
You might feel warmth, tingling, a shift in the air, or even goosebumps — each sign is unique. The more you relax and allow, the clearer their energy becomes.
3. Why It Sometimes Feels Like Your Guides Aren’t Answering
If you’ve ever thought, “My guides aren’t talking to me,” know this: they are. You just might not be able to receive it yet.
Spirit communicates through energy, and your vibration determines how clearly you can hear.
When you’re anxious, angry, or sad, your energy contracts — like a small, narrow doorway that blocks the signal. But when you raise your vibration through love, calm, and kindness, that doorway widens, and the guidance flows freely.
That’s why connection begins within. When you focus on love — especially self-love — you raise your energy and open the space for your guides to step in.
Remember: you don’t have to earn their attention. They already love you. Your only job is to soften, trust, and surrender.
The Path Forward
If I, a once-skeptical Wall Street analyst, can connect with spirit, so can you. The path isn’t about belief — it’s about allowing.
You are already connected. All that’s needed is awareness.
Start with stillness. Notice the voice that comes from love, not fear. And when it arrives, trust it — because your guides have been waiting patiently for you to listen.
To help you quiet your mind and raise your vibration, I’ve created a free guided meditation: “Feel Calm and Connected in Just 10 Minutes.” It’s a simple practice to help you begin experiencing the peace and clarity that your spirit team is ready to share.
