Quantum Physics And Spirituality: The Intersection

quantum physics

Hold out your hand in front of you. What do you see?

What if I were to tell you that that hand in front of you isn’t real? Would you feel that I’m crazy? Would you feel that it’s really there? What if I were to tell you that it’s an illusion in front of you?

This is quantum physics in action, and it’s truly a way that we can use science to explain spirit and the spirit world. If you’re interested in learning and better understanding what spirit is and how we can explain spirit using scientific principles, then stay tuned.

A lot of people ask, “How can I better understand spirit? Can science help? Are there any kind of explanations I can use?” In this episode, I’m going to dive deep into spirit. I’m going to try to explain it using some fundamental scientific principles. We’re going to use that to explain spirit as well as consciousness. We’re also going to take a look at quantum physics.

We’re going to explore some basic concepts within quantum physics. That supports what spirit is. It’s going to support the concept of consciousness in the spirit world. We’re going to go into it. Don’t worry. It’s not going to be something that is so difficult to understand because I’m certainly no scientist. I’m going to use some of the very fundamental concepts that I’ve learned over the years that really helped me get over that hurdle to understanding spirit.

One thing to think about is when you’re using quantum physics, there’s a concept in quantum physics that states that 99.9% of everything in existence is empty space. Everything in there is filled with nothing but energy. Quantum physics is telling us that 99% of everything in existence is empty space and it’s filled with energy.

One example that you can use to understand that is let’s take the example of a carbon atom. Look at the nucleus of that carbon atom. If you expand that nucleus of the carbon atom to the size of a golf ball, and remember, the electrons go around the nucleus, the electron would be two miles away from the nucleus. Everything between the nucleus and the electron would be filled with empty space. It would all be energy. That’s a mind-blowing concept. It’s mind-blowing to understand that everything that we have is empty space filled with energy. Everything ultimately is energy.

In fact, this was something that was also underscored by the father of quantum physics, Albert Einstein, but if you want to think about it, he was really the grandfather of quantum physics. What he is well-known for saying is that reality is merely an illusion, although a very persistent one. He also stated that the distinction between the past, the present, and the future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion. Think about that. Time is merely an illusion. That’s what spirit has been telling us for years.

Spirit beings in their automatic writings, the mediumship readings that they give us, and explanations they have for us always state that they don’t experience time. They don’t know the time. They don’t have time the way we know it. Time is something that is defined by physical distance. It’s a human construct. It’s something that doesn’t exist in a non-physical realm. They’ve said for ages that they don’t have time. They measure the passage of time through milestones or the passage of events. That’s something that sounds very similar to quantum mechanics. When you think about quantum mechanics as a sidebar of quantum physics, it’s something that is that much more specific.

Quantum physics can be used to explain the concept of spirit and the spirit world

Here’s some more quantum physics for you that might slightly bend your mind. Bear with me as we walk through it because some of these ideas are fascinating. When we begin to realize that quantum physics has been explaining the reality of spirit for years, it becomes that much more tangible to us. It helps us to understand the reality of spirit, the spirit world, and the fact that our consciousness lives beyond what we consider to be physical death.

One incredible aspect of quantum physics is the theory of superposition. In the theory of superposition, quantum physicists have discovered something that’s amazing. Throughout all the subatomic structures, we know that there are electrons and different particles. You’ve got protons, quarks, and all these tiny subatomic pieces of existence that makeup atoms.

All these subatomic particles are capable of being in hundreds of places simultaneously. That’s something that is the superposition theory. They’re all capable of being in the same place at once. They’re all capable of being in hundreds of places simultaneously. The only way that that’s possible is if everything is energy at its most fundamental level.

Another thing that’s very interesting is that if you compare that with what we’ve heard about spirit or angelic being at multiple places at once, the parallels are uncanny. If you have these subatomic particles under the theory of superposition, they can be at multiple places at once. Yet, we’re hearing that spirit beings and supposed angels are also able to be in multiple places at once. They suddenly come together with the same theory. It makes all of this that much more plausible. Quantum physics shows how all these theories that we’ve heard in either religion or spirituality are possible from a scientific perspective.

There’s another theory that makes this even more plausible. This is even more interesting because superposition is only possible under something called the Copenhagen Interpretation, and it’s another wild concept. The Copenhagen Interpretation states that a quantum particle exists in all possible states simultaneously or all different states simultaneously. It can be a gas. It can be material. It can be liquid. It can be non-physical. It can be all these different states at once. It doesn’t have any one particular state. It’s all of them at the same time.

However, it’s only going to be actualized in one location. It can be everywhere at once, but it’s only going to actualize in one location when it’s acted upon by another energy. In our case, that’s our human consciousness. What that’s really stating is that the moment we think about that thing, it comes into reality into that location, which is incredible.

Everything in existence is energy, including our consciousness

It goes to the concept of what we think about, we bring about. I’m sure we’ve probably all heard sayings like that. It’s the theory of what your mind is considering or thinking, you can manifest it. It’s a whole concept of manifestation. Therefore, the reality as we’re experiencing it seems to be the result of our human consciousness. That human consciousness is interfacing with quantum levels of existence that are pure levels of energy. Think about the fact when you are thinking about something you created. That one thing is in multiple places all at once. It only locates in one place when you think about it with your thought, which is energy.

There was a well-known Austrian theoretical physicist whose name was Erwin Schrödinger. He described that whole process well. He said what we observe as material bodies and forces are nothing but shapes and variations in space. He said that particles are schaumkommen appearances and that everything in the universe is energy. It goes right back to what we were talking about before about the whole concept that everything that we know about, 99.9% of everything, is empty space, and it’s all energy.

Let’s go back to that example of the hand that I was talking about at the very beginning of the episode. I opened our discussion with the concept of the hand. What I want you to do is to look at one of your hands, take your finger, and touch the palm of your other hand. When you touch the palm of your other hand, it feels pretty solid. It feels like, “It’s there. I’m touching my other hand.” What if I were to tell you that, in fact, you weren’t touching the palm of your hand at all or that your finger is seemingly touching the palm of your hand, but it’s not touching anything?

This is something that’s also coming from a concept in physics called electron repulsion theory. Under that theory, things can never touch because everything contains electrons. Atoms are composed of electrons. We were talking about that earlier. Electrons are negatively charged subatomic particles that exist in atoms, and they repel each other like magnets.

Do you remember when you were young and you had two different magnets? You tried to put the same poles of those magnets together. You tried to face them together and tried to have them touch, but they would never touch. You’d try to bring the same polarity of those two magnets together and make them touch, but they refuse to touch. They would never touch. You could never get them to touch. Those two poles of those magnets will never touch. The stronger the magnet, the more it repels.

This is the same principle that they use in maglev trains or magnetic levitation trains. They’ll use huge magnets, really powerful magnets that are highly charged with large electric conductors that go through them to make them even more powerful. They’ll keep the same polarity of those magnets facing each other, and that’s keeping the train from touching the track. It’s elevated above the track.

If it’s elevated above the track, the maglev train has no friction. It’s quickly pulled along by the electric current and the magnets themselves as they fly along what I’ll refer to as this little buffer. It is something where they are moving along and you can ride at 300 miles an hour. That’s how most of the Japanese trains work. They’re riding at 300 miles an hour, or, in some cases, 350 miles an hour based on magnetic levitation. Nothing’s touching. That’s very efficient.

The same thing is happening when we’re trying to touch another thing. We’re never touching anything. It’s our brain interpreting that we’re coming close to something. We’ll feel that sense of one series of electrons trying to touch another thing. Our brain is interpreting it. Our brain is forecasting it. Our brain is trying to create and forecast what is going on.

Our brain is a fantastic forecasting mechanism based on the experience it has had in the past. We have to have some way of understanding our environment and our surroundings, so our brain says, “I’m touching something. I feel something,” when in fact, it’s not anything that you’re physically touching at all. It’s interpreting the electromagnetic force between the atoms that are creating the electron repulsion. It’s the electrons that are repulsing and you’re feeling that energy.

In fact, the perceived touching is more like you’re hovering at a number that is 10 raised to the minus 8 meters. That’s an infinitesimal number. It’s so small that you can’t even see it. The amount of space keeps on getting smaller. If you were to look at it, you’d need a highly powered electron microscope even to see anything close to it. You may not even be able to see it at that point. It’s so small and infinitesimal that we can’t even perceive it.

Whether or not two things can touch really depends on what we mean by touch and what we perceive to be touch. It’s all in our perception. Perception is critical here. Our brain is telling us one thing. Our senses tell our brains something, and our brains are interpreting it. Our senses are the input and our brains are interpreting it. We’re understanding through perception what our brain is telling us.

Our perception is limited, and there is a greater reality beyond what we can perceive

Our experience seems limited by the perception and our view of the world based on the senses that are giving us data. The data is going into our brain and our brain is interpreting it, our brain is perceiving it, and our brain is telling us what we think is happening. That’s often summarized by the saying, “Seeing is believing.” We’ve all heard that phrase. When we see something, we think, “It must be real.” That’s what we’ve lived with our entire lives. We do believe that what we see is what’s there. It’s what we perceive. It’s really something that we’ve been doing our entire lives.

There’s a great example. There is a wonderful allegory that Plato wrote. It’s called the Allegory of the Cave. In this allegory, Plato wrote that there were three prisoners who lived their entire lives in a cave. They were chained to the wall of a cave, and they were facing the wall. They grew up in the cave. They knew nothing else but the cave. They lived their entire lives facing the cave wall. They knew nothing but that cave wall. There was nothing outside it. They didn’t know anything about it. That was their entire life. That was their entire experience.

What they would do is over their lifetimes, they would watch the shadows that were projected on the wall from different objects that were passing in front of a fire behind them. They’d see the shadows that were cast on the wall and see those shadows as real people. They thought that the shadows on the wall were people, so they referred to them as shadow people. They thought those were real. They didn’t know anything else. These shadow people became their reality. They didn’t know anything else. They knew nothing. They grew up staring at that wall, and that was their entire existence.

However, there was one prisoner who escaped from the chains. He left the chains, left the wall, and found his way outside the cave. What shocked him was that when he left the cave, he found this world of trees, animals, sunshine, green grass, bushes, vegetables, a wonderful temperature, a wonderful breeze, glorious lakes, mountains, and the world that we know in nature.

He saw all this and was shocked. He saw all the different animals that were going around. He saw other people and was shocked. He couldn’t believe it. He was there for a while. He then began to understand that these were other people and these were other things. He began to understand that there was a whole different reality and that his previous reality was in fact not the reality that he grew up knowing. He became aware of a new reality.

He goes back to the cave. He goes back to his buddies. He goes back to these fellow comrades in chains. He goes back to inform these other prisoners about the nature of the reality that he discovered. He informs them of the nature of the true reality that he experienced outside the cave and the reality of nature, the animals, the lakes, the mountains, the clouds, the sky, and everything that he had seen.

His fellow prisoners refused to accept what he said. They refused to believe it. They refused to understand it. They said, “You’re making this all up. That makes no sense,” because it was beyond their comprehension for all they knew from their entire life was the cave. They had never seen anything beyond that. It was beyond their comprehension.

What’s so interesting is that this allegory from Plato fits perfectly with our view of our reality on this Earth. Most of us are prisoners on this Earth. We see our existence in this physical universe as our true reality. We don’t know anything else. Yet, we’ve had countless communications from spirit who have come back and told us that there is a different reality.

They’ve come back to describe a different existence. They’re showing us that there is a far greater reality than what we’re used to. They’re telling us about a far different reality than what we know. We’ve all grown up knowing one thing. They’re coming back and saying it’s a bigger reality. It’s a broader reality. It’s much more colorful. It’s much more diverse. It’s much more peaceful and beautiful. It sounds much like the cave.

Another example might be let’s say there’s a goldfish. This goldfish is swimming in the lake. It can be any fish. Maybe there’s a trout or a salmon. It’s swimming in the ocean. One day in the ocean, a big wave throws him onto the beach and the fish winds up on the beach. His entire life, he was in the water. He thought that was everything that he knew, the water and the ocean.

Everything that he had grown up knowing was the water. Suddenly, he is thrown onto the beach and is like, “What’s this world? This is completely new. This is brand new. I don’t know anything about this world.” There’s this turtle that comes up to him and says, “Welcome to the dry land. This is a different world. This is a different reality.” The fish is surprised. The fish goes back into the water and tells all of his friends about the fact that there’s dry land, there are other animals, there’s bright sunshine, and there are big trees out there. His friends wouldn’t believe him. It’s the same idea.

Quantum physics supports the idea that our consciousness continues to exist after physical death

We’re the prisoners on Earth. We are the people who are limited to our experience in this reality that we understand as Earth. We don’t understand the reality that’s far greater beyond what our senses can tell us. Yet, quantum physics is telling us that there’s something far greater than what our senses are allowing us to understand. Quantum physics is telling us something that we can’t even grapple with.

Once we get beyond the understanding that we are physical beings and start to realize that we in fact are energy, are in multiple places at once, and are conscious beings or sentient beings with a consciousness that is energy that lives on forever and goes beyond what we perceive to be the physical existence, that’s when the game changes completely.

This all shows that we’re living on after our physical death because we are energy. As we’ve spoken in prior episodes and also well-known with physics and quantum physics, we know that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change form. If energy can only change form, then we change into a higher vibration state. It doesn’t dissipate and go nowhere. The belief that we end and nothing happens and we become food for the worms is something that if you look at quantum physics completely tears that belief apart.

What we really need to understand at this point is everything in existence, even the so-called human “body” that we’ve got, is energy. Everything is energy. Everything in existence is energy. That’s fundamental and stands on the shoulders of all these concepts we talked about in quantum physics. It also rests upon the idea that our reality or our consciousness is energy.

That energy is ever-present and always existent. It can never be destroyed. Therefore, that energy or consciousness exists far after our apparent “physical death” because it’s not so much the death of the body. It’s the transformation of the energy from one state to another. Quantum physics explains how plausible it is that it is transferring from one state to another and that that energy continues on. As a result, we’re gaining a much greater understanding that spirit is truly always beside us.

I hope you enjoyed this show. It was certainly a mind-bending, mind-twisting rollercoaster of different concepts. I appreciate that. I understand that. I tried to get some of these ideas across to you and explain them well. This was something that was really helpful for me in beginning to understand the true nature of spirit. Remember. I came from a very materialistic background where everything had to be proven. This was the one thing that helped me bridge that gap from going from a materialist mindset to a spiritual and broad reality mindset. It was like that man leaving the cave and seeing a new reality. I’m like, “There it is. It’s there.”

Quantum physics can be very helpful. As more people open to this idea and quantum physics starts to help us understand and show that this is something that we can really wrap our arms around, more people are going to understand the true and greater reality that’s out there and the true reality of spirit being all around us.
