Spirit's Advice: Patience is a Virtue
A few months ago in a trance circle, my guides came through to offer their advice that seems universal and is often given. However, it seems few ever listen to it or pay attention to it. I know I seem to ignore it and later wonder why I feel frustrated.
This time, they spoke about the need for patience and the importance of appreciating every small thing we experience in our lives at every moment. Though they may have been focusing on spiritual and mediumship development at the surface, their message had many layers and was easily applicable to everyone regardless of their spirituality.
Below is their message in full. It seems so full of wisdom, that to paraphrase it would do it an injustice. And true to their advice, read it slowly and fully.
"We have an important topic this evening. Patience. Patience. Oh you've hear it before. Don't be in such a rush. You are all in such a rush to get to that goal. All have such a desire to get to the finish line as soon as you can. But your light is not a rush. For you are serving a greater purpose. Your development is not your own. You work for a higher cause. Certainly you can practice. But consider that patience is a virtue, as it has been said. This is so true.
Allow yourselves to stop and smell the roses as you follow the path. Is this not a beautiful path? Is it not a beautiful road on which you walk? Enjoy your experience while you can experience everything. This is why patience is so important. Not only must you experience and enjoy everything that you do, for you can learn so much more in the process. Think. Can you learn more if you spend more [time] looking at every rose and every flower you pass by? For if you run by that flower and just glance at it, you miss so much.
You miss the intricacies. You miss the vein upon the leaf, the shading and the various colors all up and down the stem of the flower. Perhaps there are different petals on top of the flower. Perhaps there are beautiful insects that inhabit the flower. But if you race by, you will never see them. You'll never understand them. And if you never see them or never understand them, how can you compare it to the next flower? You can't. Patience will allow to slowly experience every aspect of your growth. See every flower for what it is and what it includes and how it is a greater part of the whole; how it is so intricate; and how it weaves together such a beautiful tapestry.
Consider for a moment that tapestry. If you are in such a rush, you will never begin to see the weaving that makes up the tapestry. But if you are patient, and you slowly begin to examine the weaving, as you get closer and closer and closer, you begin to understand the tapestry and all that it is made of and begin to understand why the tapestry is so beautiful indeed. But if you just run by the tapestry and glance at it, you will never see what the tapestry is made of, why it so beautiful and why it is something to be revered.
This is your purpose, your Divine purpose. You must be patient. Allow yourselves to not only love yourself, but to love others, and to do so requires patience. We have said this many times before: Rome was not built in a day. Nor will your development be created in one year or three or five, for it may take a lifetime. But just think, over the course of that lifetime how many different flowers you may have seen. If you pay attention to all those different flowers that you experience, is it fair to say that your life and those experiences that you have will be that much more beautiful?
So pay attention to the flower. Examine the flower. Understand everything that you experience. It is so tempting to want to run ahead. It is so tempting to get to the next step. It is so tempting to want to say that you have achieved new goals. Do you understand this? But if all you are doing is focusing on your goals, then you have missed the point. This is not the goal that you should be focusing upon. It is the experience. It is the components of your journey that make up your development. That is where you should place your focus and understand this is what is most important.
What allows you to focus on the components? What allows you to maintain your energy as you focus on the weaving of that tapestry? It is your love of the journey. It is your love of the experience. It is your love for what you do. This is what fuels your journey. What fuels your desire to experience each and every aspect of that journey?
And for our part, we love watching you engage in this journey, for we are so honored that you are in love with this journey, for we feel your love, and it is your love that makes us so happy. But we urge you to be patient. We urge you to stop and smell the roses.
But this one [me] is highly impatient, always wanting to get to the next step. But you must be patient. And in order to be patient, you must know that every component will get you where you need to be at that exact moment. For as it has been said, we guide you through each and every flower along your path. You do not need to know where every flower will be, or where the next flower will appear. It is already on your path. And we are already guiding you on your path in the right direction.
So do not worry. we are always at your side and we love to to see all your love and energy. Thank you for listening to us and trying to understand the importance of patience. Good evening my friends. "
They seemed to summarize their advice with a concept that even though you may want to move quickly to a new point or a faster development, you are exactly where you are supposed to be at the correct time. You can't move any faster. To do so means skipping important steps in your growth. Stop and smell the roses means more than just relax. It means slow down to learn every detail you can so that your growth is full and complete--not hollow and incomplete.
I hope you got something meaningful from spirit's advice. When they speak, they always wind up reaching each one of us directly in our own unique way. We are all different, all unique. We need to progress in our lives at our own pace. We can't compare ourselves to anyone else. Each person is moving at their own speed due to different starting points, different skill sets, different experiences, different backgrounds, different circumstances and different learning curves in life. To try to compare your growth to others is a comparison that is meaningless. You can only compare your progress to your own life.
Note to self: follow my own advice.
