The Power of Stillness: What I Learned in the Chaos

Connect With Spirit·Chris Lippincott·May 14, 2025· 2 minutes

Last week, I shared the story of our new home—how I wasn’t planning to move, how it didn’t make “sense” on paper… and yet, there was a deep inner knowing.

What I didn’t talk about was the chaos surrounding it.

The decisions, the noise of the market, the logistics, the doubts. And not just external noise—there was internal noise too.
You know the kind:

“What if I’m wrong?”
“What if I mess this up?”
“What if I’m just chasing a feeling?”

But in the middle of it all, I felt something different.
A quiet. A stillness. A place within me that said, Trust this.
Not loudly. But clearly.

That, to me, is the voice of Spirit.

It rarely yells. It doesn’t compete for airtime.
It waits for us to get quiet enough to hear it.

And that’s what I want to offer you today:
A small invitation to find your quiet in the chaos.

Three Simple Ways to Return to Your Still Point

1. Take a 3-Minute Pause.
Put your hand on your heart. Close your eyes.
Inhale for 4. Hold for 4. Exhale for 4. Hold for 4. (That’s box breathing—a favorite of first responders and spiritual seekers alike.)
Ask yourself: What am I feeling beneath the noise?

2. Step Outside, Barefoot.
Let the earth anchor you. Let the breeze remind you you’re part of something bigger. Let nature reorient your nervous system.

3. Free-Write for 5 Minutes.
Write without editing, without judgment. Let your inner voice spill onto the page. Often, Spirit speaks through your pen before your mind catches up.

Stillness isn’t something we achieve by doing more—it’s something we remember by doing less. Even in the middle of chaos, that quiet place within us is always there, waiting. You don’t have to solve everything, fix everything, or even understand everything. Just pause. Breathe. Listen. When we stop trying to force clarity and simply allow space for it, the guidance we’ve been seeking often rises to meet us. Trust that what’s meant for you won’t require you to shout—or struggle—to receive it. Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is get quiet… and let our soul speak.
